Lightning Leather Lover Series
For True "Tea-core" Leather Fans
A Helmet Bag That Becomes Your Lifetime Partner

Among American casual enthusiasts, “Tea-core” leather items are always a hot topic.
The more you use it, the more the black surface wears off, revealing the brown “core” underneath—this is what “cha-shin” leather is all about.

Originally made famous among Japanese boot lovers by the Red Wing PT91 boots from the 1990s, which featured this unique Tea-core finish.
So naturally, once you're hooked on cha-shin jackets, you just have to get a matching bag too—such is the mindset of leather lovers.

So, we’ve created this leather bag especially for the cha-shin fanbase!
That’s what this helmet bag is all about.

Made from Japanese horsehide, tanned and finished entirely in Japan.
Authentic. Domestic. True cha-shin leather.

The rich brown tones of the horsehide go well with American casual style, but its luxurious look also fits surprisingly well in business settings.
The more you use it, the more that beautiful vintage-style brown “glow” rises to the surface.

We hope you’ll feel and enjoy that transformation too.

The more you use it, the more it tastes good.
Brass fittings that go well with leather

The metal fittings decorating the helmet bag are all made of brass. The charm of brass is that it brings out the best of both worlds. The original vintage gold color is a perfect match with leather. As the tea core emerges, you can't help but love the way it grows with the leather.
At the center of the outer surface is a warm “major moon” shape. It is a horseshoe-shaped D-can, a symbol of good fortune, that arcs loosely. The 27mm size is subtle, yet exquisite, with a sense of presence, and since we chose a slightly larger size, it can be used either with a carabiner or with a strap.
The D-can for attaching the strap is also made of brass, and when worn diagonally across the back, it even contrasts beautifully with the leather jacket.

Secure and dependable handle

The handle, also made entirely of horsehide, is small but firm, as is typical of helmet bags, and does not tire easily even when held for long periods of time. The handle is soft and comfortable to hold, reflecting Ikeda Kohgei's belief that “a bag is only as good as its handle.

Two buttoned outside pockets typical of helmet bags

There are two buttoned vertical pockets on the outside. Because the leather is really good horsehide made in pure Japan, the tailoring of these pockets is just as soft and easy to use. In the case of me, Mohawk Ogawa, I keep a paperback book and sunglasses here. Of course, you can also store umbrellas and other things you don't want to put in your bag.

Zipper opening to protect and accentuate your valuable items.

The opening can be opened and closed with a zipper. It can protect your belongings from rain and other elements. You can also enjoy the contrast between the shine of the zipper and the leather as it grows.

The zipper is “Universal®”, a favorite of American casual lovers.

The zippers are “Universal®” zippers, which were reissued by YKK based on American-made zippers from the 40s and 50s. It is a detail that is familiar to American casual lovers, but the look when combined with good leather is irresistible. For Editor-in-Chief Matsushima and Ogawa, this is one of the points they really wanted to emphasize.

Interior pocket for storing small items

There is a small pocket on the inside of the bag that can be used for storing small items. Use it to store items you want to keep separate inside the bag.

It can also hold a 13-inch laptop and a pouch with small items. The leather is soft, so it opens wide and is easy to take in and out.

The name “Ikeda Kohgei” is a surprise in crocodile and python

Each time we have the name of the brand on the inside of the bag, but this time “Ikeda Kougei” is a brand that specializes in crocodile and python. This time, Ikeda Kougei made the bag with two layers of crocodile and python. On the outside, you can enjoy the horsehide tea core to the fullest, and on the inside, you can secretly love the croc and python. It is a surprise specification only available this time.

Leather strap that can also be worn over the shoulder

An adjustable strap is also included, allowing the bag to be worn over the shoulder.
